Upcyclist is an online homage to reuse by design, founded in 2011 in the wake of recession-hit UK by London-based interiors writer and editor Antonia Edwards. It is now a book by the same name, featuring some of the most beautiful and innovative waste creations, with contributions from 45 designers and artists from around the world. Each chapter focuses on a different material, detailing the repurposing of seemingly valueless objects into useful and gorgeous household items from furniture, to t-shirts, to bicycle chains. Upcyclist aims to champion the beauty and ingenuity of reuse creation, challenging the idea that design with waste should be somehow lesser than its shiny new counterpart.
