Geelong community creates a Better Block

Geelong creates its own Better Block using upcycled street furniture, locally produced food and vegie boxes.

A Better Block is a temporary street installation that gives people the chance to create their vision for a sustainable future. It’s an idea that’s come to Australia from American Jason Roberts.

Last weekend Geelong created its own Better Block that included upcycled street furniture, locally produced food and vegie boxes, art installations, street performances, bicycle parking, workshops and a cycling forum.

The Geelong Better Block was created by community groups, local artists, poets and street performers and supported by local business and the Geelong Better Block volunteer crew. The volunteers are locals with a passion for developing a more sustainable city and stronger regional economy.
